Huntsville/Madison County Mental Health BoardThe Huntsville/Madison County Mental Health Board was incorporated in December 1968 and held its first meeting in April 1969. The Mental Health Center of Madison County is a direct result of the 1967 Alabama Legislature passing Act 310, which regulated and authorized the formation of regional mental health boards. A 12-member governing board governs the center with six appointees from the City of Huntsville and six from the Madison County Commission. The Board of Directors may recommend names for appointment to the appointing governing bodies when vacancies on the Board arise. The Board of Directors at The Mental Health Center of Madison County typically meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 12:00 noon at the main office location of 4040 South Memorial Parkway in Huntsville, Alabama. The Board also holds an Annual Meeting in May of each year. Board meetings shall be open to the public except where the character or good name of a person or persons is involved. Should the public desire to attend a Board of Directors meeting, they are encouraged to contact the office of the Executive Director at (256) 705-6301 the day before the regularly scheduled Board meeting to confirm the date and time of the meeting and obtain an agenda. Copies of meeting minutes shall be available to the governing bodies that created and appoint members to the Board.
