Developed through DMH/MR to provide linguistically and culturally appropriate clinical services to the deaf and hard of hearing, the services of the Deaf Services Coordinator, a counselor who is skilled at ASL and who is also deaf, are available to clients that may not have previously had access to such services. Services include: individual, group and family therapy, crisis intervention, case management, linkage to community agencies in Region I, technical support to all Region I mental health centers providing access to the deaf and hard of hearing population, advocate for the deaf or hard of hearing, and interpreter services.
