Case Management/Residential Services (C.A.R.E.S.)

Case management provides outreach and mobile services that coordinate the full range of social, personal, financial, medical, psychiatric and transportation needs of seriously mentally ill persons in Madison County. The Mental Health Center provides access to community-based residential facilities for many individuals attempting to re-adjust to community life.

Hospital Avoidance Program ( HAP Team)

Composed of an intensive crisis team whose mission is to reduce admissions/re-admissions to state hospitals. The team identifies early those who are at high risk for Probate Court Commitment, and works with the client and family members to offer possible solutions and follow through before hospitalization is necessary.

Respite Care

A program that is provided in the community only to the seriously mentally ill who are at risk of long-term hospitalization.

Residential Services

Three residential care group homes provide beds through a contractual working relationship with the Volunteers of America. The goal of providing residential care is to allow for an opportunity for individuals to realize their fullest potential while being in the least restrictive environment.

Shelter Plus Care

Through a subcontract with the City of Huntsville, the Center provides housing and supportive services for up to 40 residents for an 18-month period via a HUD grant working toward the goal of independent living. Program participants meet the criteria for homelessness and serious mental illness and work toward independence and employment.

Community Liaison
