The Child and Adolescent Division provides mental health treatment to children with a wide range of psychiatric disorders. The program is made up of counseling and evaluation services for children. Individual, group and family therapies are available.
FIND Teams (In-Home Intervention)
In-home intervention team members work with children (ages five through seventeen) and their families in the home and through therapeutic foster care. The in-home intervention team offers crisis intervention and family therapy in an effort to prevent out-of-home placement of children.
Launch Program
The target of the Launch Program is out-of-school at-risk youth (ages sixteen through twenty-one) in Madison, Marshall and Jackson counties. Services provided in a collaborative project with the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber of Commerce include assistance with GED completion, individual counseling, career interest inventories, work experience, personality assessments, leadership camp, ropes course, exposure to post-secondary opportunities, employment assistance and adult mentoring. Counselors and county coordinators are assigned to each of the three counties.
Play Therapy
Play therapy is a distinct group of researched interventions that use play as an integral component of the therapeutic process. Through play therapy, children learn to take responsibility for their behavior and apply more successful behaviors while learning new social skills. Children can develop new and creative solutions to problems, develop respect and acceptance of themselves and others, and learn to experience and express a wider range of emotions.
