Outreach Programs (Nova)Outreach Programs: Outreach Programs are community-based/mobile services provided to reach consumers. These programs include: 1. School Based Mental Health (SBMH): The School Based Mental Health Program is funded through collaboration with Huntsville Hospital's Community Health Initiative Foundation. The funding allows the Nova Center to partner with the Health Establishments at Local Schools (HEALS) to provide mental health services in several local schools. This partnership sets the groundwork for providing a wide range of services to children and families who are seeking assistance for difficult times in their lives. This prgram has been well received by the schools and will continue to provide quality mental health services in the community. 2. DHR Based Therapy : Mental Health Center therapists located at DHR (the State Department of Human Resources)provide on-site outpatient individual, family, and group therapy for children who are in the custody of DHR. 3. FIND Teams (In-Home Intervention): In-home intervention team members work with children (ages five through seventeen) and their families in the home and through DHR foster care. The in-home intervention team offers crisis intervention, individual therapy,family therapy, and parenting sessions in an effort to prevent out-of-home placement of children considered Seriously Emotionally Disturbed (SED). 4. Case management The Nova Center provides a case manager to asist consumers and their families with linkage to resources, advocacy, and transportation. 5. Juvenile Court Liaison and Mental Health Court The Nova Center provides a therapist to serve in the role of Juvenile Court Liaison to offer emergency assessment, individual, group and family therapy for children involved with the court system and participation in Juvenile Drug Court and Juvenile Alternative Court. 6. Launch Program: This program targets out-of-school, at-risk youth (ages sixteen through twenty-one) in Madison and Marshall counties. Services, provided in a collaborative project with the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber of Commerce, include assistance with GED completion, individual counseling, career interest inventories, work experience, personality assessments, leadership camp, ropes course, exposure to post-secondary opportunities, employment assistance and adult mentoring. Counselors and county coordinators are assigned to each of the two counties. |
