Medical Support Services (Adults)Staff psychiatrists (MD or DO), both fulltime and parttime, provide psychiatric assessments and diagnoses and prescribe medications as appropriate. They meet with all active consumers at least every six months for evaluation and maintenance purposes. Psychiatrists are also available for emergency face-to-face evaluation of consumers referred by therapists, nurses, or other primary care staff members. Nurses (RN or LPN) perform nursing assessments, meet regularly with physicians to assist in medication management of all clients receiving psychiatric medication, and administer injections as ordered by the physicians. They meet with consumers on a scheduled or crisis basis. After consultation with the psychiatrist, who may require face-to-face evaluation of the consumer, medication may be prescribed. |
